The Chennai Snake Park Trust is a not-for-profit NGO constituted in 1972 by herpetologist Romulus Whitaker and is India’s first reptile park.
At the Snake Park, all the snakes are displayed in glass-fronted reptile-friendly and visitor-friendly cages. The crocodiles and the bigger lizards are kept in open air enclosures protected by parapet walls and wire-mesh.
