Kambala Park was constructed in 1845–50 by an eminent citizen, Kambham Narasinga Rao Pantulu from Andhra Pradesh, using his own resources. Near Kambala Park is Kambham Choultry, also built by Kambham Narasinga Rao, where funeral rites and rituals are performed. The choultry was constructed using bricks which were fabricated using the soil that came out while digging Kambala Tank. Initially a stadium was planned in the venue of the tank but due to protests by local residents, a park was constructed near the tank.
