National Fossil Wood Park, Thiruvakkarai, Tamil Nadu.
The National Fossil Wood Park, Tiruvakkarai is a geological park located in the Villupuram District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is maintained by the Geological Survey of India. The park was established in 1940 and is located 1 km east of Tiruvakkarai village on the road between Tindivanam and Pondicherry.
There are 200 fossil trees here in an array of shapes and sizes that will intrigue you. There are tree trunks scattered all over the place, many half buried in the soil. There is a massive banyan tree which has fresh shoots emerging from its aerial branches.
