Anshi National Park, Joida, Karnataka.
Anshi National Park or Anshi Tiger Reserve is wild life protected reserve forest area declared by government of India.It was recently renamed as Kali Tiger Reserve. The Anshi national park lies in the Uttara Kannada ( North Kanara ) district of Karnataka state.Dandeli wild life sanctuary adjoins this park along with Netravali and Bhagwan Mahaveer wild life sanctuaries of Goa state.Karnataka state highway 34 cuts through Anshi tiger reserve. SH-34 starts from Sadashivagad near Karwar and ends in Aurad going through Anshi, Joida,Ganeshgudi ,Dharwad and many other places.
The other animals of Anshi National Park are spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, mouse deer, common langur, gaur (Indian bison), wild boars, fox, slender loris, mongoose, tiger, jungle cat, jackal, Malabar giant squirrel and the porcupine. King cobra, python, rat snake, viper and krait are the reptiles found here. Also called Dandeli Anshi Forest, the sanctuary harbors a huge variety of birds. Around 200 species of birds are recorded in the park.
The bird population includes the Ceylon Frogmouth, Great Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Indian Grey Hornbill and Asian Fairy Bluebird, Adjutant Stork, Ashy Wood Swallow, Bulbul, Blue, Brahminy Kite, Broad-billed Roller, Crested Serpent Eagle, Golden-backed Woodpecker, Malabar Pied Hornbill and Yellow-footed Green Pigeon.
